Local mom believes son’s disappearance connected to hurtful Instagram messages

JEFFERSON HILLS, Pa. — Police are asking for help finding a missing 15-year-old boy from Jefferson Hills.

Jeno Moretti was reported missing by his family. He was last seen Saturday in the Floreffe neighborhood and was wearing a black T-shirt and possibly a black hoodie.

He is known to frequent West Elizabeth and the 885 Park area of Jefferson Hills, police said. He has black hair with blonde tipped braids. He is about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds.

“He goes to a good school. He’s on the football team. He wrestles. Everybody loves him. He’s quiet, he’s a quiet kid, but he would do anything for anybody,” Lisa Karner, Moretti’s mother, said.

Karner, said police and dive teams searched the Monongahela River near the Elizabeth Bridge all day Tuesday after receiving a tip that someone matching her son’s description was seen there. Crews spent all day Wednesday also searching the river.

Moretti is a student at Thomas Jefferson High School, where Karner said bullying has a been a problem.

Karner believes her son’s disappearance is connected to hurtful messages on an Instagram account circulating in the Thomas Jefferson community. A letter from the school’s principal said the school and the state attorney general are aware of the account.

Anyone with information on Moretti’s whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the Jefferson Hills Police at 412-655-2222.
