Parents call for Derry school board member to resign over comments about special needs students

GREENSBURG, Pa. — Parents are calling for Sean Kemerer to resign from his position as a Derry school board member in a heated school board meeting after comments about special needs students, women and religious subjects.

More than half a dozen parents read excerpts that they said were from Kemerer’s Facebook page and blog during Thursday night’s meeting.

“What about everyone with daughters? I’ve got three and I don’t want them anywhere near him and I don’t want him making decisions for any child in this school,” one parent said.

Once things settled down, Kemerer took his turn on the mic, saying he’s evolved as a person since posting those comments and that he’s not going anywhere.
