Peaceful prayer vigil, march had crowds downtown, roads closed off

PITTSBURGH — Hundreds of people joined a peaceful prayer vigil and marched to the City-County Building in downtown Pittsburgh Monday.

Organized by the Concerned Clergy of Western Pennsylvania, a number of speakers took the microphone at Freedom Corner, a memorial park at the corner of Center Avenue and Crawford Street. Organizers were asking participants to wear masks and do their best to maintain social distance.

Organizers continued to stress that they wanted the demonstration to be peaceful as they marched about a mile through downtown. Police units were on hand to close down streets as the group continued moving.
