Pennsylvania ranked as one of most dangerous states for winter driving, study says

PITTSBURGH — A new study has Pennsylvania ranked as one of the most dangerous states for winter driving in the U.S.

MoneyGeek analyzed data from the National Highway Transportation Agency’s Fatality Analysis Reporting System. The data from 2017 to 2019 showed when road conditions included sleet, snow, blowing snow or freezing drizzle, Pennsylvania was the fifth most dangerous state.

In a news release, MoneyGeek said it took into consideration total fatalities in winter driving conditions, the fatality rate adjusted for vehicle miles traveled in the state and the state’s score on the ranking of safest drivers.
