CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and the Pittsburgh Penguins teamed for a drive-up COVID-19 vaccine clinic Wednesday, reaching 500 vaccinations.
The clinic, was held at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry Township.
In under three hours UPMC got a little more than 300 first shots of the Moderna vaccine to members of the community while they were sitting in their own cars. And they reached their goal of 500 with ease.
For those who got the shot it was a very happy St. Patrick’s Day.
“I feel good I’m excited my parents have some health issues my husband’s parents have some health issues so it just kind of gives you that peace of mind,” Meghan Moore, COVID Vaccine recipient, said.

And thanks to staff from UPMC Passavant and the Penguins this community event and more to come are bringing life back to normal for people like Meghan, and providing particularly easy access for the shot.
“A lot of patients it’s hard for them to get in and out, they’re not mobile, and so this way they can literally drive up and they are pre-registered on our website they get the shot and I just park for about 10 minutes so we can just monitor them,” Susan Hoolahan, President of UPMC Passavant, said.
