Person in their 30’s among new COVID-19 deaths reported in Allegheny County, hospitalizations continue to increase

PITTSBURGH — Allegheny County reported its highest daily increase of COVID-19 cases on Friday with 1,322 people, on Friday, as well as 33 new deaths. In Pennsylvania, 12,745 new cases were reported and 225 deaths.

The dates of people who died in Allegheny County ranged from Nov. 22 through Dec. 10. Here’s the breakdown of their ages:

  • One person in their 30′s
  • Six people in their 60′s
  • Six people in their 70′s
  • 11 people in their 80′s
  • Seven people in their 90′s
  • Two people more than 100-years-old

Eighteen of those deaths were connected to long-term care facilities. You can see information from your county HERE.

When it comes to the cases reported in Allegheny County, 11 of the positive test results are more than a week old.

The age groups of the newly-reported cases are:

  • 00-04 - 11
  • 05-12 - 44
  • 13-18 - 69
  • 19-24 - 135
  • 25-49 - 533
  • 50-64 - 309
  • 65+ - 221

Statewide, the testing positivity rate is 14.4-percent. More than 3 million people have tested negative for COVID-19 since the pandemic began in March.

There are 5,877 people are hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 1,218 patients are in the intensive care unit.

As of Thursday, there were 225 new deaths reported across the state for a total of 12,235 deaths attributed to COVID-19.
