Pittsburgh Foundation releases $8.3 million in emergency grants to local nonprofits providing aid

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Foundation announced it released an additional 228 emergency grants, which total an estimated $8.3 million, to local nonprofits that are providing aid amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Among some of the largest grant recipients are:

  • $1.1 million for the Allegheny County Department of Human Services so it can provide temporary housing and food to those who are unable to self-quarantine
  • $600,000 for the Allegheny County Health Department to support staffing levels and provide cleaning supplies
  • $300,000 for Trying Together, a nonprofit focused on early childhood, to provide child care for essential workers in need
  • $125,000 for the Community Health Clinic, Inc. to support theree health centers in Westmoreland county
  • $102,000 for Allegheny County’s Kane Community Living Center so that residents can teleconference medical consults and communicate with family members
