Some parents are upset after letters were sent home Thursday saying the Westboro Baptist Church plans to protest at several Pittsburgh schools next Thursday.
Those schools include Central Catholic and Oakland Catholic high schools, Duquesne and Carnegie Mellon universities and the University of Pittsburgh.
The high schools will be releasing students early on that day.

“Any time there's a protest, you have to be concerned for everybody's safety because you never know what's going to happen,” said parent Amy Buterbaugh.
Westboro Baptist Church is known for staging anti-gay protests across the United States. Their news release indicates a similar reason for coming to the Pittsburgh area.
Central Catholic sent home a letter saying that, although the protest is expected to be peaceful, they canceled after-school activities as a precaution.
One parent from Central Catholic told Channel 11 her two kids were staying home from school that day.
Buterbaugh thinks it will be ok.
“I think the schools take every action possible to protect our children,” she said. “So I have faith in them.
“I hope for the best and hope everybody is safe and respectful."
Channel 11 reached out to all the schools for comment, but only heard back from Pitt, which acknowledged they’re aware of the protest.
The church is planning to go to Pine-Richland school to protest next Friday.
