Big changes coming to Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers Arts Festival

PITTSBURGH — The Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival will look different this year because of the coronavirus pandemic, but the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust isn’t throwing in the towel.

While many community events and festivals have been canceled altogether, the arts festival will take place online.

“The festival is virtual. The art is real.” That is the new slogan for the beloved summer staple.

The 61st Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival will not be in a physical setting at Point State Park. It will be exclusively online.

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust shared the details of their master plan, which includes the same fan favorites and some new exciting features.

The artist market will feature more than 350 artists. Their work can now be viewed and purchased online.

The Dollar Bank Digital Main Stage and the 24-7 Stage will feature several livestreamed performances.

The Giant Eagle Creativity Zone will be a virtual gathering place to discover hands-on activities and artist demonstrations for kids and adults alike.

Organizers hope to be back next year in a physical setting.

“See it here first. Support the local artists and there’s lots of artists of those 350 artists. There’s lots of 'em that are right here in your backyard,” Sarah Aziz, director of the Three Rivers Arts Festival and program manager of Festivals and Special Projects, said.

The Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival runs from June 5 - 14.
