PITTSBURGH — Police scoured a Downtown Pittsburgh parking garage Friday in search of a car theft suspect.
Officers were notified just before 10 a.m. of a suspicious vehicle that crashed at Sixth Avenue and Ross Street, according to the Pittsburgh Public Safety Department.
The driver reportedly ran into the BNY Mellon parking garage, possibly with a weapon.
Police searched the garage until the driver exited onto Seventh Avenue and Ross Street.
He allegedly threatened police with a knife but was tased and arrested, ultimately being taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Public safety officials say the 15-year-old is charged with driving without a license, simple assault-physical menace, resisting arrest and theft of a motor vehicle.
Channel 11 has learned that the car was reported stolen out of Shaler Township.
