ALIQUIPPA, Pa. — A motorcyclist was killed in a crash Wednesday in Beaver County.
Aliquippa police were sent to northbound State Route 51 around 1:40 p.m.
There, they found a motorcycle that had crashed in the roadway and a split utility pole. The 19-year-old male rider did not survive, police say.
He has not been publicly identified.
Route 51 was closed in both directions while officers investigated.
Witnesses told police that the motorcycle was going fast when it started to wobble and eventually lost control, hitting a pole.
Aliquippa police continue to investigate. Anyone who saw the crash or the motorcycle on Route 51 beforehand is asked to call the department at (724) 378-8000. Callers can stay anonymous.
Police expressed condolences for the rider and his family.
