Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers Arts Festival starts Friday with in-person, virtual events

PITTSBURGH — The Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival is back for 2021, starting Friday and running through June 13.

After being all online and virtual in 2020 because of COVID-19, this year’s festival is a mix of in-person and some virtual.

Things will still be slightly different, and the footprint of the festival has been expanded in Pittsburgh’s Cultural District.

The Artist Market is socially distanced and spaced out at the Allegheny Overlook Pop-Up Park along Fort Duquesne Boulevard with tents, vendors and a riverside stage. It continues at Point State Park with more artist booths and a food and beverage area. Live music will be at the Dollar Bank Main Stage at Point State Park, with acts performing each weekend night. The shows are free and concerts start at 7:30 p.m. There’s also a 24/7 virtual stage for people to enjoy.

The Benedum Lot and the Trust Oasis will also showcase artists’ work.

“We’re so excited to be back and welcoming people back to the Cultural District with the Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival. We can’t wait to just have people back downtown, buying art, listening to music, and our galleries. Our galleries have been closed for 15 months,” Sarah Aziz, Director of Festival Management at the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, said.

Organizers ask that people be respectful of other people’s space at the in-person events. Masks are recommended for people who are not vaccinated.

The festival runs daily from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
