Police investigating close call after van passed stopped school bus

JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Channel 11 News is hearing from the company whose van was involved in a close call with a school bus in Butler County.

Home surveillance video shows a commercial van whizzing by a stopped school bus on Neuport Road in Jefferson Township, moments before a young child darts out in front of the bus.

Witnesses said the bus driver honked, stopping the two children and possibly saving their lives.

The van belongs to Consolidated Communications, which released a statement that said: "" We took immediate action to work with the bus company and law enforcement to investigate the incident, and can assure you we are taking the appropriate steps to address the matter."
