A juvenile male reported that as he waited alone for a parent to pick him up, an unknown man stopped his minivan in front of the school near the tennis courts at about 6:45 p.m., got out and opened the rear sliding door on the passenger's side.

"Come here, boy,” he said, according to the victim.

The juvenile said when he attempted to photograph the man with his cellphone, the got back in the van and left.

However, police said the man driving the van is a police officer in another municipality who didn't even know the child was there.

Mount Lebanon police said the officer saw media alerts and contacted them. The officer explained that he pulled the van over in front of the school to address a safety issue with members of his own family, who were in the van. The officer said he was not even aware that the boy was standing in the grass near the school.

Mount Lebanon police posted on the department's Facebook page, in part, "We are happy to report this resolution as well as recognize that the reporting juvenile took the right actions by telling a parent or guardian when something made them feel uncomfortable. Thank you all for your assistance in helping keep Mt. Lebanon safe!"
