SOUTHPOINTE, Pa. — Protesters took to the streets in Washington County Monday to voice their complaints to energy companies.
People from all over the area converged at Southpointe in Cecil Township to protest energy companies.

Protesters from the group are concerned about the effects of oil, gas, pipeline and extraction companies in the community and their families.
People from across the country and evening Canada took part in the protest; Channel 11 saw signs from Minnesota and the Canadian province of Manitoba.

“People are suffering all over the world, basically, from too much fossil fuel use and when it has to be dug up in their backyards or pipelines put through their backyards,” a Pittsburgh resident Barbara Litt said.
A lot of the demonstrators are part of the group Rising Tide North America, which describes itself as a grassroots organization working to address climate change.
A spokesperson for the Marcellus Shale Coalition issued a statement saying:
"It's sad and unfortunate that some radical anti-energy protesters would rather spread inflammatory claims and try to disrupt Pennsylvanians hard at work than accept well-understood facts and science."
