Remote access offered to criminal proceedings in Allegheny County

Allegheny County Courthouse at Forbes Avenue

PITTSBURGH — Court administrators said the public will now be able to watch virtual hearings from the Allegheny County Courthouse starting next week.

The move comes less than a month after advocacy groups said they would sue the county if there was no electronic access provided, according to our partners at TribLive.com.

Three times since May, the ACLU of Pennsylvania and the Institute for Constitutional Advocacy and Protection at Georgetown Law sent letters to court administrators demanding the public be given remote access to criminal court proceedings.

Anyone wishing to watch a case must make a request through the court’s website. CLICK HERE TO MAKE A REQUEST
