ROSS TWP. — Ross Township police welcomed a new officer into their ranks, one of the four-legged variety.
The newest recruit to the township police department was introduced on the department’s facebook page. Tyr is is a Belgian Malinois who just celebrated his first birthday Friday at his new home with Officer Justin Allenbaugh and his family. Tyr is from Holland and will soon be completing a 10-week basic training program with Officer Allenbaugh.

K-9 cadet Tyr will be replacing Officer Allenbaugh’s last partner, K-9 officer Jimy who unexpectedly passed away last year during emergency surgery to fix a torsioned spleen.
The cost of getting Tyr was covered through the sale of K-9 Jimy t-shirts from Barbells And Badges, as well as a donation from Matt Mertz Plumbing, Inc.
