Seneca Valley School District reopening plan includes 5-day school week for students

HARMONY, Pa. — Seneca Valley School District’s tentative reopening plan is out, and it includes a traditional 5-day school week for students.

With lots of input from parents, district leaders came up with a return to school plan, but as the coronavirus changes, plans may change too.

It’s frustrating for parents, who are waiting and wondering if their child will go back to traditional school.

The Butler County district expects its safety plan to be approved next week.

After getting feedback from thousands of parents, the majority of them — almost 80% — are in favor of five days of in-person instruction.

But the school will offer other options, including virtual school, and a hybrid model of some days in school, some days online.

Seneca Valley leaders told Channel 11 that keeping the virus in mind, administrators have to be flexible and prepared to change plans at any time.

School is expected to start Aug. 26.
