GREENSBURG, Pa. — Hempfield Area High School is closed Friday because of a potential threat, officials said.
The district’s superintendent, Tammy Wolicki, said high school students were on their way to school when information about the threat was received shortly before 7 a.m., prompting administrators to have buses turn around and take them back home.
The threat included a potential hit list and mass shooting during a school assembly that was scheduled at the high school Friday morning, according to a message from Wolicki posted on the district's website.
