Three Mile Island shutting down in 2019, according to owner

LONDONDERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The owner of Three Mile Island says it is in desperate need of financial rescue.

The nuclear plant has gone through five years of losses.

More recently, it failed in an auction to sell power into the regional grid.

Chicago-based owner Exelon Corp. wants Pennsylvania to give nuclear power the same special treatment  that's given to renewable energy, such as wind and solar.
