PITTSBURGH — The latest crime statistics for the city of Pittsburgh, according to police, appear to highlight a downward trend in violent crime.
New data shows the total number of incidents for August were down 9-percent from July and down 19-percent compared to the five-year average.
Violent crimes were also down 2.5-percent, while property crimes were up 9-percent.
When you look at the big picture, crime is down almost 30-percent compared to the last 5-years.
