Supervisors, Columbia Gas hold special meeting after house explodes

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Pa. — "We failed to deliver safe and reliable service to our customers. We need to do better."

That was the statement from Columbia Gas CEO to a room full of community leaders and neighbors after a house exploded several weeks ago.

North Franklin supervisors said communication has been poor with Columbia Gas for several years. The company agreed to have weekly progress meetings with the township to update them on work being done.

"It’s more transparent. We will be able to see the day to say what’s going on and make better results in general," township supervisor Silvio Passalacqua said.

"I'm upset. I'm upset, the emotional stress. The stress of everything. All of your personal belongings being gone and finding a new place to live," Amberia Kampf said.

She was one of several neighbors who spoke face to face with the Columbai Gas CEO. Her house was badly damaged and she had to find a new place to live.
