Waynesburg man sentenced to prison after Washington County movie theater shooting

HARRISBURG, Pa. — A Waynesburg man will face up to the next five years in prison after being sentenced for shooting a teen in a Washington County movie theater.

According to a news release from Attorney General Josh Shapiro’s office, Chris Williams, 55, was sentenced after being convicted of shooting a teen in the leg after a fight broke out inside a theater in March 2019. Williams confronted a group of teens at the theater and punched one in the face. When the teens tried to leave, Williams chased them and shot one in the leg in the middle of the crowded theater.

The bullet was lodged in the victim’s leg and he had to be life-flighted to a nearby hospital.
