FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — An Arizona man tried to abduct a baby Thursday who was sitting in a cart at a grocery store self-checkout, video shows.
Update 3:15 p.m. EDT Sept. 4: Using surveillance footage, investigators determined the suspect to be Jeffrey Roholt, police said. In an interview with police he said that he thought the cart was his when he tried to leave the store. He was arrested and charged with kidnapping, officials said.

Original report: The mother was using a self-checkout at 9:35 a.m. when a man at a nearby checkout finished and tried to leave with the woman’s cart, with the infant still in it, KPHO reported.
“The mother quickly noticed the male leaving with her infant and stopped the male, preventing her child from being abducted,” the Flagstaff Police Department said on social media.
