Coronavirus: Lizzo has lunch delivered to hospital personnel

Lizzo really is 100% -- but in a generous way.

The Grammy Award-winning singer from Detroit treated several emergency room staff to lunch, voicing her appreciation for their work on the front lines as they fight the coronavirus. The timing was perfect, as Monday was National Doctors’ Day.

On Monday, Lizzo, 31, sent lunches to staff members at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and to ER personnel in Minnesota, CNN reported.

In Minneapolis, M Health Fairview tweeted the emergency room staff received a surprise lunch from Lizzo, KARE-TV reported.

“That moment when you’re working the ER and @Lizzo surprises you by sending over some lunch!” the hospital tweeted.

In Detroit, the Twitter account of Henry Ford Hospital tweeted a thank you to Lizzo for the surprise luncheon.

In a video posted Monday night on Twitter by the hospital, Lizzo thanked the staff for being the “heroes in this story.”

“It’s definitely not easy and you guys are putting yourselves on the frontline, so because of that I wanted to treat y’all to a meal and I really hope that you guys enjoy the food,” she said.

Lizzo said her team worked to keep the food delivery safe, the Detroit Free Press reported. She added she and her team members would be staying indoors and praying for staff members, the newspaper reported.
