Ron Paul says he’s ‘doing fine’ after apparent medical emergency during livestream

Three-time presidential hopeful and former U.S. Rep. Ron Paul said Friday he was “doing fine” after he appeared to suffer a medical emergency during a livestream earlier in the day.

Paul was hospitalized in Texas a precaution, Fox News reported.

“I am doing fine,” Paul said in a Twitter post. “Thank you for your concern.”

Videos posted online appeared to show Paul, 85, slurring during a live stream of his “Ron Paul Liberty Report” YouTube show Friday afternoon. Paul, a noted libertarian, launched the YouTube channel in 2015 to share opinion and news analysis.

Lawmakers and supporters took to social media to share well-wishes for Paul.

The father of Sen. Rand Paul, R-Kentucky, Ron Paul served on and off in Congress for years. He won his first seat representing Texas' 22nd congressional district in a special election in 1976 and later represented Texas' 14th congressional district in the House for 16 years.

He retired from Congress in January 2013.

In a statement published on Twitter on Friday, Rand Paul thanked people for their prayers.

“Thank God, Dad is doing well," he wrote.
