CONNELLSVILLE, Pa.,None — Springfield Pike in Connellsville was shut down for hours Monday night after a tri-axle truck crashed into several cars and two houses.
One of the cars the truck hit also crashed into a house where two adults and three children were inside, authorities said.
"They were all in the living room. The dad pushed them all away because the truck was coming toward the house. But, since the red car was in the way, it got pushed into the house," said neighbor Carissa Gettemy.
The Gettemy family lives a few houses down and ran to help when they heard the crash.
"There were already a couple of guys there trying to get to the driver. As soon as they got into the sunroof, I started talking to the guy," said neighbor Chris Gettemy.
Emergency crews told Channel 11 News the driver, Rodney Crow, 44, of Kentucky, was pinned for about 20 minutes. He is in fair condition.
Investigators said Crow was hauling some type of wood product when he lost control of the truck.
The home owners said both houses have been hit by vehicles before.
"They just need to do something about the traffic. They need to do something with those trucks," said Lynda Greenlee, who rents one of the houses hit in Monday's accident.
State Police said Crow faces several citations, including driving too fast for conditions.
