SQUIRREL HILL, Pa.,None — Police said a robber knew the person he shot in the parking lot of a Giant Eagle in Squirrel Hill Thursday afternoon.
The shooting happened near the intersection of Murray Avenue and Beacon Street.
According to investigators, witnesses heard shots fired from the store's lot. One witness told police two men started running from the lot toward an SUV-type vehicle right after the shooting. The witness said there were two other men in the SUV, which had dark, tinted windows.
Police said the 31-year-old victim, whose name hasn't been released, was robbed and shot in the back. He was treated and released from a Pittsburgh hospital.
During a follow-up investigation, investigators determined that the victim and robber knew each other and that it was not a random robbery.
Arrest warrants are pending, police said. The names of the suspects have not been released.
The Giant Eagle parking lot was closed for a brief period of time while police investigated.
