PITTSBURGH,None — A water main break has closed Crane Avenue while causing a major mess along Banksville Road early Wednesday morning.

Crane Avenue is closed while crews work to fix the break. Police were able to open both lanes of Banksville Road in time for the morning rush hour.

One witness said the break made the hillside look like Niagara Falls. The Boilermaker building and other businesses suffered some water damage from the break, officials there said.

"I didn't think it was going to be this bad, but it's bad," said Bernie Duffy of the boilermaker union.

Inside, traces of water were visible on the tile floors and carpet and in the archive room.

"We're going to have people come in and do estimates," said Duffy.

Channel 11 News reporter Brandon Hudson said there are areas near the break site with mud 4 inches high.

Crews said they don't know when they'll finish cleaning the debris. There's also no word on when Crane Avenue will reopen.
