PITTSBURGH,None — The West Penn Hospital emergency room is set to reopen in Bloomfield with even more patient beds added.
With new partner Highmark on board, West Penn Hospital will see a complete revitalization with the biggest news being the reopening of the hospital's emergency department in the next few months.
Not only will the emergency room reopen in early 2012, it will be updated with the latest technology and include a fast track system for triage patients.
Along with the improved ER, the hospital has announced a six-month plan to add more private patient rooms, renovate nurse stations, and remodel lobbies and waiting rooms.
A second phase of the project will renovate and expand the labor and delivery facilities and the neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
With expanded services, West Penn Hospital is expected to bring at least 200 new jobs to the area.
