Zumba World Record Broken At Franklin Regional High School

MURRYSVILLE, Pa.,None — Hundreds of people gathered on Franklin Regional High School's football field on Saturday, helping break the world record for the largest half-hour Zumba class.

Rob Johnston AKA "Rob on the Run," WPXI.com intern Christian Heilman and I were three of the 909 people who helped break the record.

Zumba classes are taken around the world and have recently become popular in the United States.

"Zumba is a Latin-based dance. We like to think that anyone can do it because it doesn't really matter if you do it right as long as you keep moving," said instructor Debbie Hedges.

The prior record for the largest half-hour Zumba class was 577 people.

The Relay for Life of Murrysville sponsored the massive Zumba class. The organization raises money for the American Cancer Society.
