PITTSBURGH — The Penguins are dealing with injuries as they battle for the top spot in the Metropolitan Division.

Coach Mike Sullivan said Friday that forward Bryan Rust was out of the lineup with a concussion. Rust did not participate in Friday’s practice.

Goaltender Matt Murray was also absent from practice. He’s recovering from a concussion that he suffered when he took a puck to the head during practice several weeks ago.

Sullivan said Murray was making progress and was on the ice taking controlled shots.

Zach Aston-Reese has an upper body injury and Dominik has a lower body injury.
