The Pittsburgh Penguins (2-0-0) were being outshot 7-1 in the first period and trailed 1-0 before the game turned. And it turned in a big way as the Penguins then outshot the Montreal Canadiens (1-0-1) 21-5 over the next 30 minutes, racing to a 5-1 lead later in the second period.

But as good as the Penguins were in the second period, they slept through the third. That four-goal lead became a tie game, 5-5, when Montreal scored four goals in the third period, including two with the extra attacker in the final 1:08.

In overtime, Evgeni Malkin scored his second goal of the game, the OT winner for a 6-5 Penguins win.
