For the third straight year, the team participated in the ALS/CEO Soak. However, this year it looked a little different.

Instead, the players “got soaked” Thursday afternoon in the backyard at the Petersen Events Center.

The father of head coach Jeff Capel and assistant coach Jason Capel died of ALS in 2017. The elder Capel coached basketball for decades at the high school, college and pro levels.

“I appreciate you being here ... our father passed (with ALS) in November of 2017,” Jeff Capel said before the event. “In the memory of our father this is something that we continue to fight to raise money for, and to fight to find a cure. We are very hopeful, and as long as we have air, we’re going to continue in this fight.”
