Pitt to unveil new sports-oriented complex Tuesday

PITTSBURGH — Officials with the University of Pittsburgh are scheduled to unveil plans for a new athletics facility at an event on Tuesday.

Chancellor Patrick Gallagher and Athletics Director Heather Lyke will outline the new Victory Heights project at 1 p.m. at the Peterson Events Center.

Also scheduled to be on hand at the event are Volleyball Coach Dan Fisher, Wrestling Coach Keith Gavin, Gymnastics Coach Samantha Snider and Track and Field/Cross Country Coach Alonzo Webb.

According to the University Times, this project is part of Pitt’s 30-year master plan. Victory Heights is supposed to be an athletics-oriented neighborhood built on the upper campus above the Peterson Events Center. The complex has plans to add an indoor track and a new facility to replace the Fitzgerald Field House.
