Overcast conditions continue Friday, showers expected Saturday

PITTSBURGH — Ian made landfall near Georgetown, South Carolina Friday afternoon as a Category 1 hurricane. Ian now a post-tropical cyclone will continue to track inland. Ian will decrease in intensity as it interacts with land tonight, but it will still bring rainfall to our area impacting our weekend.

Overcast conditions will continue this evening with rain showers developing from the south late tonight. Scattered showers will track from the south to the north across our area overnight. Scattered showers will kick off Saturday morning with steadier rain picking up mid-morning. The heaviest and the steadiest rain is expected from midday and through the afternoon hours. It will still be a rainy Saturday evening but more off and on showers is expected then eventually tapering off early Sunday morning.

Rain totals will be the highest farther south. Areas around I-70 could receive 2″ or more of rain. Pittsburgh and surrounding counties are expected to get 1″-2″ of rain. Cities close to I-80 may add up to less than an inch of rain. Saturday will be breezy as well with wind gusts between 20-30 mph.
