PITTSBURGH — Steady rain pushed through the Pittsburgh area early Thursday, making for a rough morning commute. Rainfall totals measured 0.36 inches of rain by of 8 a.m. at Pittsburgh International Airport.

Rain will taper off to a few showers this afternoon. A thunderstorm is possible in a spot or two this afternoon.

For anyone headed downtown to watch the Pittsburgh Penguins on the Big Screen will need to keep the umbrella handy. Temperatures will be in the mid-60s when the puck drops.
The Storm Prediction Center has part of Armstrong, Indiana, Westmoreland, Fayette, Preston and Garrett County under a marginal risk for severe weather. Any storm that does form will create some brief heavy rain and gusty winds.

The low pressure system bringing in all the wet weather will slowly lift northeast and out of the area as Friday goes on. This will keep a few showers in place during the day, but it should dry out in time for the Pittsburgh Pirates game Friday evening.
Showers and thunderstorms will be possible for much of the holiday weekend. The wettest day of the weekend will be Sunday.
