Woman dead after fire at senior apartment complex in West Newton

WEST NEWTON, Pa. — A woman died after a fire at a senior apartment complex in West Newton on Thursday night.

Joyce Marinos, 76, was killed in the fire, Channel 11 news partner the Tribune-Review reports.

According to Westmoreland County 911, emergency crews were called to Filburn Manor on North Water Street at 7:04 p.m.

Fire Chief Craig Sanner said the fire was contained to one unit on the 11th floor.

The building was evacuated due to the fire.

At this time, no other injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
