Woman found dead in Uniontown home; suspect identified as husband

UNIONTOWN, Pa. — A woman was found dead in a Uniontown house Monday afternoon.

According to Uniontown police, Franyerlys Nicold “Nicole” Zambrano Briceno was found dead from a single gunshot wound in a house on Bierer Avenue at 1:31 p.m.

Police said she was believed to have been dead for at least a couple of days.

The victim’s husband, Arthur Guty Jr., 55, is considered a suspect in her murder, police said. Officers are searching for him.

Guty’s neighbor Bob Luick has known him for more than a year.

“Art, he was the nicest guy you’d want to meet,” Luick said. “I mean, it just shook me to death when I found out about it.”

According to police, officers were first notified by her coworkers on Dec. 29 after she didn’t show up or call out for work.

Zambrano Briceno was a housekeeper at Nemacolin resort.

Lieutenant Tom Kolencik with the Uniontown Police Department said not showing up for her shift was unusual for the Venezuelan native.

“She was very prompt with work, always showed up,” he said. “She hadn’t been there for three days, didn’t call off, so that prompted a check on the welfare at her home.”

During the welfare check, no one answered the door.

Neighbors told police Guty and his wife went to Florida but pings from their cell phones showed otherwise.

“The story just didn’t add up,” said Lt. Kolencik. “They were in touch with him. The story he was telling family members, told a couple of our officers in small conversations, none of it added up.”

Family members in Venezuela said they last spoke with Zambrano Briceno on Christmas Eve.

Luick said he last saw him a couple days before that.

“He disappeared and I didn’t know where he went, or what he was doing,” Luick said. “I had no idea.”

Neighbors told Channel 11, Zambrano Briceno was kind, a hard worker and very well liked.

They said Guty was a good neighbor but had a jealous side when it came to his wife of less than a year. Neighbors said they never thought he’d be implicated in her murder.

“Did I ever think he could do that? No,” Luick said. “But I’ll you what, he made a statement maybe a month ago that he thought she was messing around on him, and this is exactly the way he said it, he was sitting right there, he said, ‘If I find out she’s messing around, I’ll kill her.’”

Police are still searching for Guty who they believe is out of state somewhere.
