Allegheny County captures largest county share of alcohol sales according to latest fiscal report from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board

PITTSBURGH — Allegheny County led the commonwealth in alcohol sales this past year according to the latest fiscal report from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board which spanned from July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020.

Total sales reached more than $288 million in the county home to Pittsburgh, down $18 million or 5.8% from the $306 million in sales seen last year before the Covid-19 pandemic reached Pennsylvania. The county managed to capture 14.62% of PLCB’s total sales for the fiscal year, which reached $2.56 billion when including liquor and sales taxes. Year-over-year sales declined 4% overall across the commonwealth, PLCB said.

Whiskey sales reached $59.9 million in Allegheny County, the highest figure out of the 14 categories of wines and spirits, and was followed by $47.9 million in red table wine sales and $46.5 million in vodka sales, respectively.
