Bonus, incentives lift Romoff’s total compensation in final year at helm

PITTSBURGH — Former UPMC CEO Jeffrey Romoff’s compensation package rose in the final full fiscal year of his tenure with a double-digit increase in bonus and incentive compensation.

Romoff, who resigned in late July 2021 after a long run at the top of the Pittsburgh-based health organization, had total compensation of $10.38 million for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2021, according to an Internal Revenue Service filing made public on Friday afternoon.

That included bonus and incentives of $7.54 million, up from $4.5 million in bonus and incentives in 2019-20 and $3.81 million in 2018-19. Romoff’s base salary was unchanged at $1.25 million. He also had $1.13 million in other reportable compensation and the figure included $979,872 in deferred compensation on a prior year’s filing, according to the data.
