Grandpa Joe’s Candy Store to open location in Canonsburg

CANONSBURG, Pa. — Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop, which has had a location in the Strip District for nearly a decade, is opening its newest location in downtown Canonsburg.

The 4,000-square-foot store will open at 4 West Pike Street in what had been a PNC Bank. It will open the afternoon of Thursday, Sept. 9.

The store will feature the hundreds of types of candy and treats, both domestic and international, plus 200 types of bottled sodas and toys and games that are also for sale at Grandpa Joe’s other locations. The candy store has won national acclaim including spots on “Today,” Fox News Channel” and “Good Morning America.”

Grandpa Joe’s, since opening in the Strip District in 2012, has grown to 11 other stores in Pennsylvania and Ohio. The Canonsburg store will make it an even dozen for Grandpa Joe’s. Owner Christopher J. Beers said in a statement that the Canonsburg store is also notable because it’s close to home. He said that downtown Canonsburg is undergoing a revitalization that he’s happy to be a part of.
