WASHINGTON, Pa. — The Washington Trotting Association, parent company to the Meadows Race Track and Casino in Washington, Pennsylvania, announced it plans to permanently layoff an additional 18 workers at its facility. In July, the company announced it would terminate the positions of 174 workers effective Sept. 15 amid financial hardships caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The company filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry that stated it plans to terminate these positions at 210 Racetrack Rd. in Washington County. The WARN notice said the layoffs would go into effect on Oct. 31.
Founded in 1918, the company said it manages over 1,000 duty-paid and duty-free stores in 89 locations throughout the world according to its website.
