President of Newspaper Guild of Pittsburgh union, Michael A. Fuoco, resigns following misconduct allegations

PITTSBURGH — The president of the Newspaper Guild of Pittsburgh, a union representing workers at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and some faculty members at Point Park University, has voluntarily resigned following reports of alleged misconduct violations of the union’s mutual respect policy.

The Guild’s executive committee was informed of now-former president Michael A. Fuoco’s resignation on the night of Sept. 26. Fuoco also resigned from his reporter position at the Post-Gazette, where he worked for the past 36 years.

In a press release announcing the resignation, NewsGuild-CWA, the parent union of the Newspaper Guild of Pittsburgh, said the organization does not allow for the types of behaviors that Fuoco is accused of doing.
