Two people are facing charges and more than a dozen bricks of heroin are off the street after an undercover bust in Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
Police said undercover police set up a meeting with the suspect where they agreed to buy a brick of heroin for $225. The suspect, 26-year-old Mark Cabbagestalk, of Fineview, arrived in a Hummer H3 at the intersection of Spring Garden Avenue and Constance Street.
When police surrounded him. Cabbagestalk put the vehicle in reverse and backed into a police car, officials said.
Cabbagestalk continued driving backward on Contance Street until he crashed into a home, then officers surrounded the Hummer and got Cabbagestalk out of the vehicle. Two officers suffered minor injuries and were checked at the scene.
Police said they found one brick of heroin wrapped in plain white paper, along with a clear vacuum-sealed bag containing 12 bricks of heroin wrapped in plain white paper.
Cabbagestalk is charged with aggravated assault, possession of drugs with intent to deliver, reckless driving and other crimes.
While police were securing the scene, 28-year-old Cornelia Everett, of Arlington, entered the crime scene and ignored police commands to stop. Everett was arrested and police found in her car 2 1/2 bricks of heroin, six stamp bags of heroin, a small amount of crack cocaine and marijuana. Everett faces disorderly conduct and drug charges, police said.
Cabbagestalk remained in the Allegheny County Jail as of Thursday morning. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 11.
