Gov. Wolf again proposes raising minimum wage in PA

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Gov. Tom Wolf again proposed raising the minimum wage in Pennsylvania, the sixth time since taking office.

His plan would raise the wage to $12 per hour starting in July. The minimum would increase 50 cents each year until reaching $15 in 2026.

According to the governor’s office, raising the minimum wage would generate more than $300 million in tax revenue by 2026.

“Pennsylvanians are worth more than $7.25 an hour. So I’m going to continue to fight for a minimum wage until all Pennsylvanians are finally paid life-sustaining wages.” he said.

The minimum wage in surrounding states is higher than Pennsylvania:

• Ohio raised it to $8.75
• West Virginia is also at $8.75
• New York’s minimum wage is $11.80
