Man shot multiple times after breaking into Fayette County home

BROWNSVILLE, Pa. — Court documents reveal a man was shot after breaking into a home in Fayette County late Tuesday night.

Troopers responded to a reported disturbance at a home on 18th Street at the intersection of Water Street in Brownsville around 11:30 p.m.

When police arrived, they found a man who had been shot multiple times. He was flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital for emergency surgery. His condition is currently unknown.

A criminal complaint reveals police were called to the home when a woman called, saying someone she didn’t know was ringing the doorbell. That person, whom the complaint identifies as 69-year-old Ronald Rosiek, later began “beating” on the door and then broke out the front glass window.

Rosiek then went upstairs to the woman’s bedroom and began yelling at her. The complaint states the woman told Rosiek to leave, but he instead walked towards her.

At that point, the complaint states the woman shot a handgun once, hitting him in the leg. Rosiek moved towards her again, and she fired four more times, striking him once in the side of the head.

The two then got into a struggle in the bathroom before the woman was able to escape and run out of the home.

Rosiek is now facing 10 charges, including burglary, aggravated assault and criminal trespassing.

James Boyd, the woman’s sister, tells Channel 11 he’s relieved to know she’s safe. He rushed to the home after learning of the shooting.

“Anxious, not knowing if she was all right,” he said. “I heard on the news someone was shot, life-flighted and I thought the worst. I thought it was her.”
