Area businesses offer Veterans Day specials

Veterans Day is Friday, a day to recognize all U.S. veterans and active military service members.

There are about 19 million veterans, according to the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Several local businesses offer free items or discounts as a way to thank them for their service.

Most ask for proof of service. Be sure to check if offers are valid.

Golden Corral will give a complimentary “thank you” meal on Nov. 14 in recognition of Veterans Day.

All U.S. service members, retired military and veterans can enjoy a free dinner buffet and beverage at their nearest Golden Corral from 5 p.m. to close.

The Military Appreciation Night offer is available at all Golden Corral restaurants nationwide for dine-in only, and it is not applicable for spouses or family members. A military identification is not required to receive the complimentary meal.

The chain will also be raising funds through guest contributions for Disabled American Veterans, a nonprofit organization that provides lifetime support for veterans of all generations and their families


Panera Bread bakery-cafés in Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Monongalia, Washington and Westmoreland counties will honor all veterans and active-duty military on Nov. 11 with a free pastry or bakery item and cup of coffee.

Active military members and veterans can redeem this offer by visiting their nearest Panera Bread location in their uniform or with proof of U.S. Military service.

Participating locations in Pennsylvania include: Allison Park, Bethel Park, Bridgeville, Monroeville, Moon Township, Mt. Lebanon, Oakmont, Pittsburgh, Pleasant Hills, Ross Township, Tarentum, West Homestead, Wexford, Monaca, Butler, Cranberry Township, Uniontown, Morgantown, Peters Township, Washington, Greensburg, Murrysville, and North Huntingdon.

The offer is valid only at participating Panera Bread locations and is limited to one per customer. The offer excludes the pastry ring and loaves of bread and is not valid with any other offer, Rapid Pick-up, Delivery or Online Ordering.


Sheetz will offer a free meal and car wash Nov. 11. All veterans and active duty military personnel can enjoy a free half ham and cheese or meatball sub and a regular size fountain drink at any of Sheetz’s 660+ store locations. Sheetz will also provide a free car wash to veterans and active duty military. This offer only applies to the $9 wash option and is only available at Sheetz stores that have a car wash. Military ID or proof of service must be presented to qualify.


Carnegie Science Center general admission is free Nov. 11 for all U.S. military veterans and active members and up to three of their guests. Valid identification must be presented. Visitors can attend a Veteran’s Day ceremony from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on the USS Requin submarine and inside Carnegie Science Center’s RiverView Café.


Eat’n Park is showing its appreciation for all active and former United States military personnel and their families by offering a 10% discount on their entire check during the month of November.

The discount applies to all meals on the active or former military personnel’s check. The discount runs for the month of November at all Eat’n Park locations in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia.

The veterans’ discount is valid for dine-in only, not for takeout or online orders. The offer cannot be combined with any other coupon offer or discount but can be used in combination with the Free Smiley Cookie for veterans on Veterans Day on Nov. 11. Proof of service is required.


Graeter’s Ice Cream will honor our nation’s heroes this Veterans Day with a sweet treat. Any active or veteran military member can visit their local Graeter’s Ice Cream scoop shop and get a free single dip sugar cone on Nov. 11.


Active and former military personnel, veterans and their immediate families get 30% off in Kohl’s stores Veterans Day weekend, Nov. 11-13, with a valid ID. The continuation of Military Mondays at Kohl’s offers a 15% in-store discount for active and former military personnel, veterans, and their immediate families every Monday all year long.


Active and retired military can enjoy a free Primanti Bros. Almost Famous sandwich in honor of their service Nov. 11 at all Primanti Bros. locations across Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland and Michigan.

The offer is available for all active and retired servicemembers for dine-in, takeout or online orders. Those ordering online or on the Primanti Bros. FanFare Rewards app should use coupon code THANKSVETS at checkout.


This Veterans Day, 7-Eleven, Speedway and Stripes are offering a free Quarter-Pound Big Bite 100% all-beef hot dog in honor of veterans. Available in-store and via delivery through the 7NOW app, this deal is only redeemable on Nov. 11.


McDonald’s across the tri-State area are honoring military veterans with some special offers on Nov. 11.

Veterans and active duty military are invited to visit any participating restaurants in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio and Maryland to enjoy either a free breakfast, lunch or dinner meal.

The free breakfast is a Sausage McMuffin with Egg Meal, which comes with a small soft drink, tea or hot coffee, and a hash brown. The free lunch or dinner option includes a 10 piece Chicken McNugget Meal, which comes with a small size soft drink, tea or hot coffee, and a small order of fries.


Bob Evans Restaurants is honoring veterans and active duty military personnel with a free meal on Veterans Day. Guests who dine in on Nov. 11 can choose from one of 10 farm-fresh breakfast items from a special menu available all day. Guests wishing to enjoy a free Veterans Day meal must provide proof of service.

Veterans and active duty military guests can choose one of the following: Country Biscuit Breakfast, Classic Breakfast, Banana Berry Oatmeal, Sunrise, Mini Sampler, Brioche French Toast, Sausage Gravy and Biscuits, Buttermilk Hotcakes, Rolled-Oat Oatmeal, or Country Fried Steak.
