GREENSBURG, Pa. — A man and woman are facing charges after police say a baby in their care suffered a skull fracture and tested positive for drugs.
Danielle Kowalski, 25, and Steven Kopetsky, 32, of Greensburg, are facing child endangerment and drug manufacturing charges, according to information shared by the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office on Monday.
Police said the 7-month-old was taken to UPMC Children’s Hospital after being left in Kowalski’s care at a house on College Avenue. Officers were originally called to the house by Kopetsky.
At the hospital, medics uncovered the baby’s skull fracture and found evidence of cocaine and marijuana in their system, police say.
Officers obtained a search warrant for the house, where they found marijuana and packaging materials.
Kowalski and Kopetsky are scheduled to appear in court in September.
