Ellwood City resident David Spielvogel told Channel 11's Amy Marcinkiewicz the bear is a frequent visitor to the property and that he's not hurting anyone.
“Ellwood City says he comes down here and gets into our bird feeder,” he said. “I think he’s pretty cool.”
Other neighbors Marcinkiewicz talked to said they don’t mind the bear and even look forward to the wild animal showing up on nearby trail cameras.
The game commission said this is exactly the time of year that bears come out of hibernation and take advantage of easy targets for easy food.
They urged residents to remove sources of food like garbage or pet food and the bear will go away.
